Our first pilot project is empowering the Rastafari Indigenous Village (RIV) to host retreat guests at their officially certified sacramental community in Montego Bay, Jamaica. RIV was the first Rastafarian community to incorporate visionary plants other than cannabis into their own spiritual practice. After several years, the Village began to conduct ceremonies for outside groups. Demand has soared for these ceremonies, but RIV has been limited by a lack of on-site guest accommodations. The Pilot Project is designed to eliminate that bottleneck, and generate a stream of revenue sufficient to sustain the Village and all its residents. Construction will soon be complete, and RIV is now accepting reservations for retreats in March and beyond.
Come visit a community that lives by the lessons that cannabis and visionary plants teach us, and has incorporated those lessons into the rhythm and flow of daily life. Wake up to the sound of songbirds and river water. Come drum and chant Nyabinghi in the Tabernacle. Walk down a flower lined path to the garden and harvest some callaloo or cacao, and bring it up to our Ital kitchen (that cooks some of the best plant based food on the island). Pound your own cacao for chocolate tea; press your own cane juice; help make recipes that originated in Africa.
Learn how to make drums and soaps by hand, from artisans preserving traditional Rastafari techniques. Reason with the elders; learn the true history and heritage; wrap those lessons into your own dreams. Wade across the river; swim in the deeper spots;
drink coconut "wata" - morning, noon and night.
Our consciously and carefully created retreats step beyond the therapeutic envelope to offer a broader spectrum of the psychedelic experience. While ample time, space and support is provided for personal discovery; we also incorporate interpersonal connection, cultural exchange, environmental consciousness, historical awareness, and principles of social justice and activism into our approach. Plant Tribe retreats are hosted in communities that live by the lessons that visionary plants teach us, and provide guests an example of the world we are striving to build.
